Menswear Trends with Pockets

Pockets Menswear is coming soon to Legacy West. When it comes to menswear, they have served in the Dallas community for 40+ years as an influencer and community icon in the realm.  What sets them apart from other menswear stores? “Service. Above all, we long to make sure that you feel comfortable in our store. With brands from all over the world, we relish the opportunity to show you the very best of what we have to offer and give incredible advice on how to wear it. For over 40 years, we just don’t consider you a customer or a client, but a friend.,” said Carla Weil of Pockets.

What are they looking forward to most this spring and summer? Color. Spring is always a great time to experiment with varying aspects of the color spectrum. Instead of navy, try Capri bright blue. Or, if you’d normally choose white, khaki and stone, opt for salmon and teal. Also, as the temperature rises, Pockets advises opting for soft shouldered and unlined jackets in lightweight blends of wool, silk and linen to make a statement.

As for a summer wedding, try a midnight navy tux. “It’s classic,” said Weil, “Think Cary Grant in ‘An Affair to Remember.’ In a sea of black tuxedoes, a midnight navy one lets everyone know that you know exactly what you’re doing.”

And, what made Legacy West such an attractive location for their second location after 40 years in business? “The chance to continue the “legacy” of Pockets in a fantastic new venue,” Weil shared, “There is an opportunity to expose more people to our beautifully edited selection of some of the best brands available.  We don’t desire to be ubiquitous. One of the reasons for our success is our strong relationships with our clients. We know our customers, and they know us. The opportunity to take our 40+ years of Pockets experience to a new place is something we’re looking forward to.” One of the most valuable lessons she’s learned in business is to listen and be true to their customers, giving them the best possible experience.

When it comes to the biggest mistakes that men often make with their suits: fit matters. Balance is not found in the extremes. “Too trim doesn’t even work for Tom Brady,” said Weil, “Likewise, too full only makes you bigger. Also, we believe Charles Eames is right. ‘The details are not the details, they make the design.’ Not only does a pocket square or the right belt complete a look, it’s a great opportunity to let your personality show.”

As for summer gift ideas? “There’s a reason that silks have been used for ties since they were called cravats,” Weil stated, “Their luxurious luster can add a punch of fun to the most somber of affairs. However, spring and summer presents the opportunity to take advantage of wonderful blends such as linen and silk or cotton and silk. Not only do they retain their beauty after being perfectly knotted, they add a marvelous bit of texture that will have every eye taking a second look.” The countdown is on to shopping in style.
